The webinar, jointly organised by the European Institute of Planted Forests (IEFC), IUFRO, and the European Forest Institute (EFI), focused on the health and biotic risks affecting Douglas-fir across Europe. As planted areas of this non-native species continue to expand, particularly in France and Germany, understanding emerging pests, diseases, and management challenges remains increasingly important.
In his talk, “Predictive mapping of damage by major co-evolved insect pests of Douglas-fir,” Aditya presented key findings from his research on the drivers of pest impacts in both native and introduced ranges. His work offers valuable insights for forest managers, researchers, and policy actors working with non-native conifers.
