Tomáš Hlásny
Professor of Forest Biology, Czech University of Life Sciences, Expert on Forests Risks Management
Future risks will be higher and more complex, and overall disturbance dynamics will differ from what we know today. This uncertainty brings us to resilience and its key component, diversity across scales. This remains our primary strategy for facing the unknown by distributing risk and enhancing recovery capacity.

Specialization

Forest disturbance ecology and management, ecosystem modelling, climate change impacts and adaptation.

Beyond Science

In the rare moments when I’m not working, I love being outdoors – cycling, hiking, swimming, or paddling – or reading. Lately my favourite authors have been Richard Dawkins, Yuval Noah Harari, and Salman Rushdie.
