Discover Forest Invaders Around ČZU

BioBlitz: Mapping Nature’s Unwanted Guests

Join a guided BioBlitz walk around ČZU with Andrew “Sandy” Liebhold, FISC Scientific Leader, and FISC scientist Kateřina Berchová. Discover invasive plants and insects and explore their impacts on nature and society.

As part of Invasive Species Week (https://invaznidruhy.aopk.gov.cz/tyden-invaznich-druhu) and the BioBlitz mapping weekend (https://www.biosmrst.cz/), we invite you to join a guided walk in the surroundings of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

When: June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM

Where: Southern entrance to the CULS arboretum (Libosad) (50.1292289N, 14.3690322E)

Route: The walk will be approximately 4.5 km long and will lead through the Housle and Dolní Šárka Nature Monuments. We will finish the excursion at the Na Břetislavce pub.

Excursion leaders: Kateřina Berchová Bímová (plants) and Andrew “Sandy” Liebhold (insects), FISC Prague, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

Language: Czech and English

During the excursion, we will learn how to recognize individual species mapped within the BioBlitz project using the iNaturalist app. We will discuss the ecology of the individual species, possibilities for their control, and more generally the impacts of biological invasions on nature and human society.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

The excursion is organized within the framework of project CH-V2-36 funded by the Swiss–Czech Cooperation Programme.
