Safeguarding Forests in Europe: Emerging Risks of Agrilus Wood Borers

The EPPO Conference “Safeguarding Forests in Europe: Emerging Risks of Agrilus Wood Borers (Buprestidae)” will take place on 21–23 April 2026 in Vienna, Austria. Andrew Liebhold will deliver a keynote lecture titled: “European trees on the precipice of their demise?

The meeting will address the growing threats posed by tree-killing Agrilus species, including the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis), as well as other high-risk pests affecting European forests. It will bring together experts from research, forest protection, and policy to share knowledge, identify gaps, and strengthen strategies to safeguard forests.

Andrew Liebhold will deliver his keynote lecture on 21 April at 11:10 – it will be possible to follow it online.
