FISC Trains: Lost In Translation Aka Surviving Multicultural Meetings Without Losing Your Mind

2 min read

Have you ever left a project meeting convinced that everyone agreed on the next steps, only to discover a week later that each team member understood something completely different?

Welcome to the fascinating world of intercultural communication and collaboration!

This interactive workshop is designed for members of international project teams who work across cultures, languages, professional backgrounds, and communication styles. Whether you are coordinating an Erasmus+ project, participating in an international research consortium, or collaborating with colleagues from different countries, this workshop will help you navigate intercultural communication with greater confidence, empathy, and effectiveness.

Together, we will explore how cultural differences influence communication, decision-making, feedback, and teamwork. Through practical examples you will learn how to avoid common misunderstandings, build trust across cultures, and communicate successfully even when expectations, working styles, and assumptions differ. We will also look at how uncertainty and cultural differences can escalate tensions within teams, and how to address challenging situations constructively.

Get ready to laugh, learn, and leave better equipped to collaborate successfully in the world of international projects.

The workshop will be led by Klara ten Donkelaar, a Mental Health Counsellor, Psychotherapist  and a Crisis Intervention Specialist from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, ČZU.
